If you would like to lose weight, selecting the right weight loss program is vital to your success. There are a seemingly infinite number of weight loss programs available on the market today so how can you decide which one is ideal for you? This is a question I see a great deal from both women and men searching for the ideal program to follow. It’s a confusing situation to be in I can imagine; needing to lose weight but not knowing which program best serves your needs.  So what do you do?

1. Identify what you need

What do you want from your physical body? My online fitness coaching customers hear this from me all the time. At first, it may seem like a pretty silly question, but it is not. I’ve learned that the vast majority of people looking for weight loss are not that interested in losing weight in any way. It’s true! In my substantial professional experience, the majority of folks seeking skilled fitness coaching are not seeking to eliminate weight as far as they’d simply prefer to feel good about themselves and avoid the pain associated with the societal pressures of becoming obese. Losing weight isn’t their true desire, it simply provides them with the things they’re wanting. In reality, I will go as far as to say that many people want to eat anything they want to eat, do anything they wish to do, and live their life as they deem suitable. I am not pointing fingers here, that is what I’d love to perform too. But being human means we have societal pressures and expectations. Now in history, we are told that a slender, toned physique is sexy, attractive, and desirable. I believe that this is the reason most men and women seek weight reduction programs, not due to a true desire to be lean, but an extreme desire to be wanted, to be sexy, to be considered appealing, and to feel good about their own body when surrounded by people who’s opinions they believe important.

It’s perfectly okay to seek out weight loss for any reason whatsoever; since you want to feel attractive, feel assured on your body or to entice prospective love interests. Whatever your reason for looking for weight loss, you must identify your REAL reason for this particular exploration. Once you’ve correctly identified this reason/reasons, motivating yourself toward this goal/goals is a much more enjoyable process. Once this happens, the weight loss procedure is not so much about the weight as far as it is all about you! And that’s precisely how it should be.

2. Determine commitment boundaries

This concept is perhaps the most important of all. I’ve seen people spend thousands of dollars on weight loss programs only to abandon that attempt only days into the program. They over-committed themselves and were not able to follow through. Each weight loss program has a couple of things in common. All these things will vary from program to program, however, the basic components stay:

  • Frequency – How often you need to workout
  • Intensity – How much effort and intensity you have to put into your app
  • Time – How Long you have to exercise each workout
  • Type – Kinds of workout (s) you may be doing throughout a program

This has a common name. We at the fitness sector call this the F.I.T.T principle. Beyond those principles which are usually associated with the exercise elements of the program There’ll also be nutritional requirements to some Superior weight loss plan that fits perfectly to the same acronym:

  • Frequency – Describes how often you will eat every day
  • Intensity – How rigid or lax your diet plan is

Maybe you require a program with a more developmental approach and allows you more food and exercise choices.

3. Beware of programs that claim to be for everyone

I’m not saying that there are not programs that may benefit everyone and anyone, but I am stating that you’re more likely to be successful when you sign-up for a plan that’s directed at individuals just like you. Programs that try to cater to everyone are usually designed to produce sales more than results. These programs tend to be very demanding, have quite stiff diet expectations, and often lead to injury for those not ready to manage the requirements the application requires. Do your homework and find a plan that’s designed with you in mind.

When I began developing my Body Fat Meltdown weight loss program for women many people told me I’d make more revenue if I’d just market it to everyone; men, women, older, younger, everyone. Though this is undoubtedly true I could not ethically do this because I understand that each of those groups of people has their own distinct set of needs and desires when it comes to physical fitness and weight reduction. Take these five variables and use them to weed through the vast wilderness of weight loss programs available to you. Find a program in which you are the targeted participant, one that you can realistically participate in and sustain from start to finish. If you do the things I firmly believe you’ll be prosperous in your effort to lose weight and feel and look good.
